Cachaa Aretusa
We are a new artisan distillery located in the south of Brazil for production of a very high quality of brazilian "cachaa". Our process is quite simple. Daily our own sugar cane is cut, squeezed and the juice fermented with selected yeast. This fermented juice is distilled in a modern copper still: only 70% of distillate is utilized and aged for not less than six months in noble wood barrels.
The name "Aretusa" come from greek mythology.
Aretusa, a Diana´s preferred nymph, was having a bath. Alfeo, a young hunter, saw and at once fell in love with her. She ran away pursued from Alfeo but before be caught was transformed by Diana in a fountain. Alfeo too was transformed in a river. But in conclusion the love won: the waters merged!
